1/144 Graze Kai WIP

So I started working on a second Graze Kai this week. I'd previously prepped and started painting it, but I decided to strip what I'd done and start fresh. During my move from South Carolina, home I managed to lose the top part of the Graze kai head, so instead of ordering a replacement, or scratchbuilding the part, I just scratchbuilt a whole new head...

Mechanicore: Zerstore (Xi) Wip post

OH MAN. i have neglected my blog. I'm sorry. Here's all the photos from my wip with the mechanicore Zerstore i've been commissioned to work on, that i could find. It's going to be done in my team colors, and will hopefully be done very shortly.

Quick Resin tutorial + Start to finish Hazel head quick build

Many people familiar with gunpla start off building the bandai plastic models, but after a while the plastic builds become a bit monotonous, so sometimes builders will seek more challenging builds. be it in the way of modifying their kits, looking at different manufacturers for more challenging model kits, or perhaps dabbling in resin. Resin kits are a special material that you can find some very beautiful and detailed kits in, that may not be available or possible in plastic form. some resin kits even require a plastic frame from an existing kit, for improved posability!

I decided to do a quick runthrough of a typical resin build, start to finish, and touch on as many techniques and methods you'll encounter when working with resin. The build was fairly quick so quality isn't as great as if i'd taken more time, but it was simply for the purpose of teaching some basic resin prep. So, lets get started shall we?

Master Grade ez8 Elite Group build Wip: 1

SO i've neglected my blog once again. but here i am with another WIP. this one is kind of a throwback, (not much unlike the build strike i suppose, but actually a throwback)

one of my favorite builds last year was the Ez8, so I thought for the mecha lounge Elite group build, I'd raise my game a little.

MG Build Strike WIP: 1

one of my favorite builds of last year was easily my MG Aile Strike RM (which can be found here and on youtube) I enjoyed it so much, i had entertained the idea of building another actually, But shortly after i was ready to take the dive, this awesome MG was announced. I've been following the build fighters series since it started, and I'm really enjoying it. and the build strike has been no exception, the design grew on me almost immediately. Anyway. enough about that. my goal with this build was to replicate the same kind of build as my aile strike, but take it to the next level. I'm going to do another RG style color separation (i love color separating parts if you haven't been able to tell) as well as shading, and decals.

My first Kitbash. concept ideas, and beginning some mods.

So I'm entering a contest in the Facebook group: It's a gundaaaaaam!! for creating your own custom build fighters unit. the contest spans over a couple of months. and it seemed like an interesting opportunity to try some new things. so here I decided I'd go ahead and plan out a kit bash. initially my concept was to make a smaller more agile unit, and apply a number of blades, but i felt that would be disadvantageous in actual combat, being limited to just close range. so this will be a mid to long range, space capable mobile suit, with beam sabers for last minute close range combat of course. but the idea is to keep combat at a distance. next I had tried to decide the look i wanted to go for. I have always been a fan of exaggerated proportions, and really lean lanky limbs.

hit the bump for some breakdown and a few plans i plan to execute here.

MG Geara Doga WIP: 1

So i can't remember if i began blogging about the geara doga or not. but it's part of a build-off between my good friends, Jeff, Steve (or sneeper) and myself. my entry has been in the works for several weeks now, i've just been focusing on other projects, so progress has been slow. but now that that's out of the way, no time for rest. time to get cracking :)

RG GP01 Zephyranthes WIP: 1

So I bought myself the RG Zephyranthes because the model looked fantastic. and after snap fitting everything to see how it worked, I was pleasantly surprised.
anyway, I immediately disassembled it and began to lay down some paints. the biggest reason I'm painting this is because a couple of good friends of mine, Harry and Big Z were having a build-off and invited me to join along. being two people who have taught me a lot since I've began this hobby, I really look up to them, and I was Honored to participate.

Anyway, enough rambly mumbo jumbo. I decided if i was going to compete with them on any level, I would have to seriously step my game up in terms of color and paint accuracy. so I opted to learn how to properly shade and make more natural looking shade as well as blending it better, and detailing and lining better than I have on any kit previous to this.

Photo time!

PG Ground Gundam Conversion WIP: 1

Well, now that I'm back on this blogging kick. I guess I should take a second to talk about one of my latest projects. the PG RX-79[g] (Ground Gundam) conversion. Which uses the PG RX-78-2 as a base, using parts from the frame, and lots of resin to make up the missing parts, resulting in a previously unavailable, 1/60 scale ground-type gundam. one of my personal favorites. :)

Master Grade Aile Strike Remaster WIP: 1 (+unboxing and review)

So this has been a busy and semi-productive week (or has it been two?) for me. I've been pretty swamped with work and the like, but I've been pushing some work out, or trying at least. anyway. the topic at hand. THE AILE STRIKE REMASTER.

let me just say, this kit, is Fantastic. If you're a fan of the aile strike, or you were on the fence about picking this one up. I say go for it. such a solid build.

I sat down after test-fitting and reviewing the kit and started doing a little painting on the frame.

i'm not too far in yet. but you can get an idea of the look i'm trying to achieve with this guy. I'm very pleased with the difference in the metallics so far. Hit the bump for more pictures, as well as my unboxing video, and some thoughts on the kit itself. :)

GWC 1.0 entry: MG Ez8 WIP: 3

So this week has shown a lot of progress. I've been semi-lazy but somehow I have produced a lot in terms of progress on the Ez8 for Gundam Beginner's contest. since last update I have finished weathering the outer armor, primed, painted and pre-shaded everything, and then hand-brushed all of my weathering on. did some more dry brushing and decaling and right now it's at the final gloss stage.

for those of you who don't like reading or pictures, here's a WIP video for you:

And for the rest of you, continue as normal ;D stuff happens after the jump

GWC 1.0 entry: MG Ez8 WIP: 2

So my aim is to get myself back into a schedule and update my blog and my youtube, as well as the various other places i post my content on a semi-regular basis. Hopefully I'll be able to make enough progress throughout the week to keep this up. So we'll see what happens.

ANYWAY. the Ez8. I've finished painting and dry brushing the frame. and i've finished painting all (read: about 90-ish%) of all of the metallics on the kit. so a majority of what's left is the armor parts, as well as the backpack.

Just a little sample. I'll try to take more pictures of the frame before i slap all of the armor on the final product. :)

here's the WIP video for the progress i've made so far.

MG Blue-Frame Second Revise Bro-Build with GGD WIP: 3

it has been a long and busy week with work, as summer is approaching and everyone is trying to get everything sorted out for that. so i've been spending a little more time sleeping than painting. but fortunately I've got the next two days off, so I hope to wrap this guy up in that time. I'll show you some pictures and then we'll get into what's left.

Also: a big shout out to my friend Cody, for the awesome banner for my blog. Love it.

so I did a test spray and fitted the painted and decaled armor, and a comparing shot with my original blue frame build. my shading is a little heavier than i had originally hoped for, but I do like how it looks. with the blue showing through more it looks nice against the frame, but still contrasts the gloss/flats well. so i'm more than pleased with this.

MG Blue-Frame Second Revise Bro-Build with GGD WIP: 2

If that title isn't a mouthful... Anyway, after seeing Dan, completed his build of his Red-frame, and was ready for paint. I realised it was time to step my game up hardcore. so I quickly got to work, and knocked out the rest of the build...

Bro-Build with GoodguyDan: Blue Frame WIP: 01

Last week I finished up my Zudah, which meant it was time to finally get started on a long awaited project of mine, a friendly build off with my awesome friend GoodguyDan. Originally I think we were planning to do a blue frame build-off which wound up turning into this, Which should be Just as fun, if not more. I've only had about a day or so to sit down to snap my kit together. and I'm still far from finished in that department, and there are a few minor mods i'm going to be making to the kit (no custom plating or plastic removal or anything like that. mostly stuff to make joints not rub)

Like most of my builds before it. I'm going to try to push my abilities with this one again. This kit will be my first actual venture into the world of 'extra finishes' and I'm also going to be trying my hand at some preshading on the outer armor parts of the kit. as well as highlighting a few details in the kit.

Zudah WIP: 4

It's been a productive and slightly busy week! got a lot done on this guy.

the arms clearly aren't finished. I just put them on to see how they looked. I'm very happy with my masking and the subtle color differences in the camo. I've decided to paint the remaining pieces first, then just panel-wash and decal everything left in one sitting. assuming everything goes according to plan :)

hit the jump for a couple more photos!

Zudah WIP: 3

I have been slacking like no other on this blog... but a little inactivity is fine every now and again i suppose. I have hammered out a little more work on my Zudah. and hope to have it all finished by next week hopefully. as it stands now the arms are all painted and need decals and lines. as well as a final topcoat. so that'll come today most likely. I've got the next two days off work after tonght so I'll be able to do the head and weapons and call it a day. anyway, enough of me blubbering. here's what i've got.
